Co-Founder & Chairman of the Private Equity Investment Committee
Les is a Co-Founder of Praesidium and serves as the Chairman of the Private Equity Investment Committee.
Les was the Founder, Chairman, CEO and controlling shareholder of Hamilton Lane (Nasdaq: HLNE), the world’s leading Private Equity advisory and management firm. He sold his controlling participation to a consortium led by Cascade, the investment arm of Bill Gates in 2003. He was also Chairman and CEO of Sarr Group, his holding company.
Les brings over 40 years of experience across investment banking, commercial banking and financial advisory roles, having worked with Chemical Bank, Fidelity Bank, E.F Hutton and Lloyds International Corporation.
He is currently Chairman of the Board of Directors of CDK Global, Inc. (NASDAQ “CDK”). He is Lead Director of Merck & Co., Inc. (NYSE “MRK”) and Broadridge Financial Solutions, Inc. (NYSE “BR”), where he was formerly Chairman of the Board of Directors. He also serves on the Board of Directors of ThomaBravo Advantage, Inc. (NYSE: “TBA”), Corning, Inc. (NYSE “GLW”), Ariel Investments, LLC, and Footprint, LLC.
Formerly, he used to be Chairman of ADP (the world’s largest data processor), Chairman of Compensation Committee and Board Member of Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Chairman of the US Small Business Administration’s Advisory Council and Managing Director of CCMP Capital Advisors.
He holds a BS from the State University of New York (recognized as a Distinguished Alumnus), and former Trustee of the University at Buffalo Foundation. Les was also recognized as one of America’s top 100 Corporate Directors by the National Association of Corporate Directors. In 2019, he was inducted to the 2019 Business Hall of Fame for Philadelphia Inquirer’s Industry Icons.
