    Hugh is a BAFTA-winning broadcaster, writer and environmental advocate, best known for the River Cottage TV series and books, and his campaigning TV series for Channel 4 and the BBC. His most recent series for the BBC was War on plastics and for Channel 4 River Cottage Reunited.

    He is also the founder, and a director, of the River Cottage food brand. River Cottage runs an organic farm on the Dorset/Devon border, which is the hub for a broad range of courses and events. It’s also home to the River Cottage Cookery School and a restaurant and shop, the River Cottage Kitchen and Store.

    Working with his talented kitchen team, Hugh has devised a range of healthy organic products under the River Cottage brand, including Kombuchas, Sauerkrauts, Yoghurts, Kefirs, Vegetable Stocks and Sauces.

    He is a Vice President of the wildlife conservation charity Fauna and Flora International, and a patron of Switchback, a charity that supports young offenders to get training and find work in the hospitality industry.

    Hugh lives in East Devon on a small farm with his family, where they raise cattle, goats and chickens, grow vegetables, fruits and nuts, and are helping to trial a new and more sustainable approach to bee-keeping.
